That might be due to the foam air cleaner that I made. I could ride around it but it’s not ideal. At part throttle it would stumble and bog, kind of right where you want the revs to be to takeoff from a stop. When I did have it running, it did not exactly run right. Then I’m going to pull the carb and clean it as best I can. That’s going to have to wait till it warms up a little bit. I’m going to start by giving it a good bath and degreasing. Unfortunately I did not store it with a full tank like I should have. The inside of the gas tank doesn’t look great. I’m going to work on getting it running again and then doing a light restoration (assuming I get it running!) I was up there last weekend and dug it out. It’s been sitting for probably 10 years now, in a garage up at my folks cabin. I used it for a few years as a pit bike at Mid Ohio vintage days, it worked great for that. Cleaned the carb, fab’d up an air filter, and give it a once over. They moved on to bigger and better things and he gave the bike to me.Īt the time I had to do a little work to it to get it to run. He used it to teach his kids how to ride a motorcycle. About 15 years ago a friend of mine gave me this 1988 Yamaha DT 50.
